General Questions

What is Run Square?

Run Square is a platform designed to connect trail runners. Whether you're looking for a pacer, crew support, transportation, lodging, or simply want to connect with other runners, this app can help. It's centered around a curated list of trail running events, making it easy to find and connect with people participating in the same races.

How does it work?

The app revolves around a curated list of events. Users can browse upcoming races and connect with others through event-specific discussion threads. These threads are categorized as "Ask" (for requests), "Offer" (for services or help), and "Misc" (for general discussions). Once you've found a potential connection, you can chat publicly within the event space to coordinate details.

Is the app free?

Yes, Run Square is completely free to use. There are no ads or in-app purchases.

Does the app use my location or share my data?

No, Run Square does not track, share, or sell your location data or any other personal information.

How do I suggest a new event?

You can suggest events to be added to the curated list through the app. These suggestions will be reviewed and moderated before being added.

Why are events moderated?

Event moderation ensures the quality and relevance of the listed races, helping to maintain a focused and useful experience for all users.

Why is there no private messaging?

All chats within the app are public. This design promotes transparency and safety, making it easier to monitor interactions and prevent inappropriate behavior. It also fosters a sense of community and shared information.

How do I contact another user privately?

While chats within events are public, you can establish a more private connection *after* both parties agree to connect. This two-way acceptance is designed to protect user privacy. Only then will private contact information be shared.

What if I see something inappropriate?

The app has a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content. You can easily report any post or user by tapping on the message. This helps maintain a safe and respectful community.

What kind of content is considered objectionable?

This includes, but is not limited to: Hate speech, harassment, threats, discrimination, obscene or offensive content, spam, misleading information, or impersonation.

What about notifications?

The app does *not* send any notifications by default. You have complete control over notifications and can choose to enable them if you wish.
